Thames Autos is an award-winning car bodyshop and accident repair centre at 1A Spencer Road, Seven Kings — serving Ilford and East London with over 20 years of experience in the body repair trade. Most bodyshops can straighten a panel; the difference is whether they’ll tell you the truth about what your car actually needs. That’s the reputation we’ve built here, one repair at a time.
How we work
Accident repair is a distress purchase — nobody plans for it, and most people have no way of judging the work until it’s too late. So we run the shop on rules that remove the gamble:
- Honest estimates — if a repair isn’t worth doing, or a cheaper route gets the same result, we’ll say so. We quote SMART repairs against full resprays and let you choose.
- Manufacturer-standard work — heated spray booth, paint mixed to your exact colour code, genuine or OEM-equivalent parts, sensors tested after every bumper job.
- Your side on insurance claims — we work for you, not the insurer. We manage the claim end to end, and we’ll tell you when paying privately beats claiming.
- Guaranteed in writing — every repair leaves with a written guarantee. If it isn’t right, bring it back.
The workshop
Behind the counter is a full accident repair centre: pulling and jig equipment for structural work, a heated spray booth for factory-quality refinishing, PDR tooling for paintless dent work, and a courtesy car fleet that keeps customers moving while we work. We repair all makes and models — cars and light commercial vehicles.

We’re trusted by insurers to carry out approved accident repairs to manufacturer standard. Ask us about the approvals relevant to your vehicle and claim when you call — and remember, whoever your insurer suggests, the choice of repairer is legally yours.
Part of the neighbourhood
We’ve been repairing East London’s cars for over two decades — for families in Seven Kings and Goodmayes, tradespeople in Barking and Dagenham, and commuters from Gants Hill to Romford. A lot of the cars in the workshop this week belong to the children of customers we served twenty years ago. That only happens when the work holds up.
